ATLANTA (AP) - The commissioner of the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice has named a new top financial officer.
Commissioner Avery Niles on Monday announced the appointment of Sonja R. Allen of Tucker as the agency's new chief financial officer. Allen comes to the department from the Georgia Department of Public Health, where she was director of financial services.
At the Department of Public Health, Allen was tasked with analyzing financial information and accounting data to identify trends that affected the agency's fiscal and cash flow positions along with budget forecasts, projections and analysis.
The commissioner touted Allen's extensive background in management, analysis and budget coordination. She has a bachelor of business administration in accounting from Tennessee State University and more than 20 years of experience in accounting, auditing and budget fields.
