ATLANTA (AP) - A new president has been named for Lanier Technical College in Winder.
The board overseeing the Technical College System of Georgia has named Ray Perren as the school's next president.
Perren, a University of Georgia graduate, is currently President of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College in Valdosta. Officials say he's scheduled to begin his new role May 1. At Wiregrass, Perren helped lay the foundation for numerous new programs, including associate degree nursing and engineering technology programs.
Perren was a teacher in Paulding County and eventually served as assistant superintendent. He was appointed Paulding County Schools Superintendent in 1996 and became dean of academic affairs at DeVry University in 2000. In that role, Perren oversaw programs and operations for 5,200 students at nine DeVry campuses in Georgia and North Carolina.
