DALLAS, Georgia (AP) - Authorities say a Paulding County woman has been arrested in the death of her husband.
Firefighters were dispatched to a residential blaze Saturday afternoon in Dallas and found the body of 64-year-old Gene Caldwell inside the home. An autopsy performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation determined Caldwell's death was a homicide, although authorities have not disclosed exactly how the man died.
Paulding County Sheriff's Corporal Ashley Henson says Caldwell's 59-year-old wife, Jeanie, was found in a wooded area near the home after the fire and was charged with felony murder after investigators interviewed witnesses and relatives.
Caldwell is being held without bond in the Paulding County Detention Center.
Dallas is about 30 miles east of downtown Atlanta.
