Georgia Woman Sentenced in Student Aid Fraud Scheme

ALBANY, Georgia (AP) - A 25-year-old woman has been sentenced to four years in prison in a student loan and grant fraud scheme.

U.S. Attorney's officials say Princess Eatmon pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and was sentenced Thursday.

Authorities say Eatmon applied for student loans and grants on behalf of 27 people who knowingly gave her their personal information.

Eatmon enrolled people in online universities then applied for federal student loans and grants. Authorities say Eatmon completed coursework and dropped out of the courses after the federal aid arrived.

Two others have pleaded guilty in the case and Eatmon is ordered to pay more than $139,000 in restitution. While awaiting sentencing, Eatmon was charged with theft of U.S. Treasury checks and aggravated identity theft in a separate tax fraud scheme.
