Georgia Woman Rearrested in involuntary Committal Case
ALBANY, Georgia (AP) - Dougherty County authorities say a woman who conspired with her sister to illegally have their mother sent to a psychiatric facility has been rearrested.
Dougherty County District Attorney Gregory Edwards says 46-year-old Connie Justice was arrested Wednesday morning in Brunswick. Edwards says Justice and her 48-year-old sister, Kerry Franklin, conspired in September 2011 to have their 67-year-old mother, Jean Sancken, involuntarily committed to the psychiatric wing of an Albany hospital as retaliation for Sancken having Franklin and her boyfriend evicted from her home.
Edwards says the two were found guilty of malicious confinement and Franklin was sentenced to two years in prison. Justice skipped her August sentencing hearing and is being held in Glynn County.
Sancken says her daughters stole numerous personal belongings while she was hospitalized for three days.
