Man Shot During Georgia Traffic Stop, Hospitalized
SMYRNA, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in Smyrna say a man was shot by police during a traffic stop and has been hospitalized.
It has been reported that the unidentified man shot at an officer during a traffic stop. Smyrna police officer Michael Smith says the officer returned fire and the man led police on a one-mile chase before crashing. Officials say the man hit two other cars and eventually hit a patrol car.
Police are unsure of the extent of the man's injuries and say the officer involved in the traffic stop was not injured.
Smyrna is about 15 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
