Bond Denied For Ga. Man In Wife's Death

Written by Associated Press (86) on . Posted in State

BAXLEY, Ga. (AP) - Bond has been denied for a Baxley man accused of strangling his wife and making up a story about a fatal home invasion robbery.

It has been reported that 26-year-old Jonathan Courson appeared in Appling County Court Friday along with several witnesses - including two bank employees, an insurance agent and some of his relatives.

Courson told police that two men killed his wife, Mandy, during a home invasion robbery Jan. 4. Police say the woman was strangled with a rope and Courson had minor scratches when they arrived on the scene.

Witnesses testified that Courson tried claiming a life insurance policy in his wife's name, was responsible for loans on several cars he did not own and closed all of the couple's joint accounts three days after her death.
