Man Sought In Ga. Restaurant Assault

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Police in Athens are searching for a man who attacked a woman at a restaurant and stomped on her head before fleeing the scene.

An unidentified man punched a 35-year-old woman in her face and continued beating her as she lay on the concrete patio outside a restaurant on College Station Road Tuesday night.

Police say the victim was bleeding from her mouth and nose, but refused to be taken to the hospital because she could not afford treatment. Police say the woman told them she did not know why the man attacked her.

Officials say the man continued beating the woman as employees and other patrons tried helping her, and the man fled the scene in a 4-door Lincoln sedan.
