Board Member Resigns After SUV Collides With Teen
CARTERSVILLE, Georgia. (AP) - A Bartow County school board member accused of striking a teenager with her SUV in a dispute over a Walmart parking space has resigned from the school board.
Police say 41-year-old Angela Cornett struck the 17-year-old girl, who was standing in a parking space Friday trying to save it for someone. Police say the teen and Cornett argued before Cornett hit the girl with her car.
Cornett submitted her resignation Thursday to Gov. Nathan Deal and the school system's superintendent.
Mroczko says she decided it was time to step aside for personal and family reasons.
She faces a charge of reckless conduct, a misdemeanor.
