New Jersey Man Sentenced For Trafficking Guns From Georgia

ATLANTA (AP) - A 27-year-old New Jersey man has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison after prosecutors say he illegally acquired more than 60 guns in Georgia and took them to New Jersey.

A federal judge on Monday sentenced Paul Boykins to serve five years and eight months on charges of conspiring to make false statements to federally licensed firearms dealers and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His sentence is to be followed by five years of supervised release.

Boykins pleaded guilty to the charges in July.

Authorities say Boykins arranged for and paid other people to buy more than 60 guns in Georgia between May and October 2011. Police in Commerce found nine guns hidden in his trunk during a traffic stop in October 2011.
