ROSWELL, Georgia (AP) - A Roswell man known around town as the "chicken man" says he's now facing the prospect of being evicted from his home, which has been the focus of complaints from neighbors over the years.
Andrew Wordes tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that lenders foreclosed on his Alpine Drive
home while he served jail time late last year. Authorities had ordered him to jail after accusing him of violating property codes.
Wordes gained notoriety in 2009, when city officials cited him for raising poultry in his backyard. Supporters wore yellow T-shirts and "I Love Chickens" buttons to his court hearing.
His yard has held dozens of animals including chickens, turkeys, rabbits and pot-bellied pigs. Friends helped to adopt some of the animals when Wordes went to jail last year.
