DETROIT (AP) - Detroit firefighters have been battling a big blaze at an abandoned factory.
The large, vacant building was on fire Thursday afternoon on the city's west side. No injuries have been reported.
Multiple media outlets report that fire crews were working outside the structure because of concerns that there might be hazardous waste inside. Utility crews had shut off power to residents and businesses in the immediate area. People are being asked to close their doors and windows because of the smoke and fumes.
Broadcasters report that smoke could be seen for miles around the structure, which is near Interstate 94.
