NEW YORK (AP) - The fire department says a building has partly collapsed and caught fire in New York City's Chinatown, sending eight people, including a firefighter, to hospitals. At least three of them are in serious condition. The firefighter is not among those three. The New York Fire Department got the call around 12:45 p.m. Thursday. The fire was under control shortly after 1:30 p.m.
Initial searches of the building for other people have been completed, and secondary searches are underway. Early reports suggest there may have been a gas explosion on the first floor of the building.
