PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia day care worker charged with the abduction and rape of a 5-year-old girl has been indicted by a grand jury.
Christina Regusters remains the sole person charged in the Jan. 14 kidnapping. Formal arraignment is set for May 20.
Officials say the girl was allowed to leave school with a woman who posed as her mother and took her to a nearby home, where she was sexually assaulted. The girl was found the next day at a playground, shivering and partially clothed.
Regusters is charged with kidnapping, rape and conspiracy. She was threatened and assaulted in the Philadelphia prison system and has been moved to a Northampton County facility. She's being held on $4 million bail.
Her attorney says she maintains her innocence.
