PHOENIX (AP) - The Air Force's decision to transfer a lieutenant colonel to a Tucson military base after his sexual assault conviction was overturned by a commander has upset the family of the woman who leveled the allegations against the officer.
The woman's family says the transfer of Lt. Col. James Wilkerson to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is upsetting because roughly half of her family lives there.
The family is planning a protest Thursday outside the base.
Wilkerson denied the charges.
Wilkerson was convicted by a military jury of aggravated sexual assault and other charges and sentenced to one year in prison.
But a commander overturned the verdict says he found Wilkerson more believable than the alleged victim.
