GOP Turns To Governors In Post-2012 Review

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Looking for a new direction, many Republicans are turning to the states for ideas on how to come back from their 2012 election defeat. Republicans are promoting the tax and economic growth policies of several Republican governors as a way for the party to appeal to voters on the economy and avoid social issues that they say hurt Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.

Members of the Republican National Committee are meeting in Charlotte to discuss ways to rebound from the 2012 election. Republicans currently hold governors' offices in 30 states. Many Republicans say the work of such governors as Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Sam Brownback of Kansas can be case studies for Republicans searching for ways to change the tone and direction of the party after President Barack Obama's re-election.
