Race For Giffords' Former Seat Is Still Too Close To Call

PHOENIX (AP) - There's now just one congressional race still to be decided in Arizona. Democrat Ron Barber, the hand-picked successor to Gabrielle Giffords, has a lead of a few hundred votes over Republican Martha McSally, six days after the election.

Another House seat from Arizona is going to be filled by Democrat Kyrsten Sinema, after a bitterly fought race that featured millions of dollars in attack ads. She defeated Republican Vernon Parker.

Sinema becomes the first openly bisexual member of Congress.

During the race, Republicans said she was too liberal for the newly-created district, and that she doesn't understand stay-at-home moms.

Democrats said Parker was a tea party radical who would hurt children by cutting the federal education department.

Parker has conceded defeat, with a promise to continue his public service.
