KATHLEEN, Georgia(41NBC/WMGT)-An autopsy report on the death of a Houston County girl who was found dead in a house fire has been ruled a homicide. According to the Houston County Sherriff's Department, the autopsy revealed that 12 year old India Collins died from multiple gunshot wounds. Collins was found inside her home at 122 Addington Drive Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators say India and her older sister, 17 year old Carmen Collins, were at home alone together. According to Authorities, sometime between 5:00p.m. and 7:00p.m. Carmen obtained a 40 caliber handgun and shot her sister multiple times. Sherriff Deputies said after the shooting, Carmen used gasoline to set the house on fire and then left the home in the family car. Early Thursday morning, Carmen was arrested in Columbus, Georgia and booked at the Houston County Detention Center where she's currently being held without bond.
Carmen has been charged with murder and arson. Investigators say the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
