An unloaded handgun, six bullets, and marijuana were discovered on a 7th grader at Appling middle school Tuesday afternoon.
According to a news release from Bibb county public schools, a student told a faculty member that another student had a gun around 1:15 pm.
The school was placed on code yellow for about 15 minutes while campus police arrested the 7th grader. He's being charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, possession of marijuana, obstruction of an office and disrupting a public school.
He's suspended from school until an evidentiary hearing.
