After forty years, former State Representative David Lucas grieves the loss of his friend and colleague.
"He was a friend and you always hate to see a friend leave you based under these circumstances."
State Senator Cecil Staton says goodbye to a political powerhouse.
"We all saw the Robert Brown who was so full of life and vigor and commitment in the state senate."
State Senator Miriam Paris says Brown laid the foundation for her work in Atlanta.
"Senator Brown served the people of the district as well as the people in the community in a very powerful way. He was very respected by his colleagues as well as the rest of us here in the community."
Brown's passion for the people in middle Georgia did not go unnoticed.
"Even though we were opponents from time to time, we tried to work together on issues. We tried to work together on issues of interest to to the community as a whole. This is a sad day for the city of Macon, and Bibb County, and middle Georgia," says Macon Mayor Robert Reichert.
A tragic ending to a life, many say, was full of passion.
"It's a loss. It's a tragedy. you know, we all have our ways. Nobody's perfect, but I think it's a loss," says Bibb County Coroner, Leon Jones.
