The family of a missing Centerville woman is speaking out in hopes of having their loved one return home safely.
38 year old Kimberly McKenzie was reported missing Wednesday night. Her family's nightmare started at 6:47pm when her sister last talked to her. Luciana, Kimberly's sister, says she was on the phone with her sister and heard a male tell her to get in the back seat of her car.
"She was like it's not that serious. You can have the car and then the phone dropped its signal." Her sister says, " My heart dropped, because I could tell in the tone of her voice she didn't know whoever that male was that was speaking to her."
According to her sister, Kimberly spent the day in Macon with a friend getting their taxes done and then never returned home. Her family became even more concerned when she did not show up to work Thursday morning, something they say is very out of character for McKenzie.
"Her character is not this.. by not being home with her son," says her mom, Betsy McKenzie.
Police did find her blue Honda Accord in Macon, but her whereabouts are still unknown.
"What they've told me basically.. they've found the vehicle, but no signs of my sister. So I don't even know what to think at this point,” says her sister.
For now her family is desperate for answers and hoping for Kimberly's safe return.
Anyone with information on Kimberly McKenzie's whereabouts is asked to call the Centerville Police Department at 953-4222. Kimberly is described as 5 feet tall and weighing around 120 lbs.
