Tonight, a Macon Church is showing kids, if you've got 'SWAG', you're surviving without a gang.
Parents, and their families joined local leaders in a special program at New Birth Church to help put a stop youth violence.
A group of kids mimed their way through a musical tale, showing that walking away from violence starts with guidance from God, and their parents.
"The parents are the base of the family. And by reaching the parents, maybe we can reach the young people," says Pastor Leon Ward, New Birth Church.
One mother, Kaqueline Hall, says the dangerous atmosphere in Macon prompted her to bring her son to this program.
"I have an 11 year old son. I wanted him to see what's going on in this community, and hear about it before it gets too late for him."
Parents also had an opportunity to share their experiences in an open forum. Ward said, he hoped this would encourage them to continue making the best choices for their children, and keep them away from violence.
