A newly drawn congressional district has a new candidate.
Today Milledgeville native stephen simpson announced he's running for the 10th congressional district. His main platform is getting Georgia back to work.
He plans to stimulate the local economy and the state as a whole.
Simpson says the biggest problem in Washington is the lack of responsible budgeting.
"It's just like fundamental financial management for your household or when you're growing up," Simpson told 41NBC. "There's three was to accumulate wealth. You can inherit it, win the lottery or you can spend less than you earn--spend less than you earn. That's what we need to do in Washington--we need to control spending and spend less than we earn."
Simpson is a retired lieutenant colonel and a graduate of GCSU.
He says he feels very connected to Middle Georgia and is excited to represent his home district.
