At Thursday's Bibb County School Board Meeting members surprised Interim Superintendent Sylvia McGee with a bouquet of flowers and individual thanked her for her dedication to the school system for the last 11 month.
In a reflection of serving as acting superintendent, McGee said this, "Initially it was turbulent, but then with the support of the community and the support of the staff and board, we have been able to stay on track."
New Superintendent Dr. Roman Dallemand will step into his new role on February 1st. McGee will stay on board for awhile to help him adjust, and then she says she will look into new opportunities.
The Bibb County School Board plans to have a welcome party for Dallemand. The tentative date is January 31st. The event is expected to have close to 400 people in attendance, including community leaders as well as students and teachers. The school board will fund the event through sponsors. The event will be held at Central High School.
