Monroe County firefighters suffered from heat exhaustion while battling a house fire that left a High Falls family homeless. The blaze took over the home on Unionville Road around 10am Saturday. The residents weren't injured, but fire investigators said the home was destroyed.
Firefighters fought the flames for several hours in the hot temperatures. Three of the firefighters were treated on the scene for heat exhaustion and a fourth was taken to the hospital for further treatment. He was released a few hours later.
The Red Cross is assisting the family.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
