"We get lots and lots of baseball fans who come around. People from all eight of the southeastern states and it's a really good thing for us to do," said Jimmy Autry, a community volunteer and Vice President of Member Services at Flint Energy.
To put on such a large tournament requires a lot of man power. More than 150 volunteers from the
"I enjoy working around our youth and the community and when I can. I worked here last year, I enjoy just being around young folks and seeing them have a good time," said Barry Brown, a volunteer from
Brown will take care of you at the concession stand, whether you need a hotdog, hamburger or even a pulled pork sandwich. Last year during the baseball tournament the concessions fed between three and four thousand during peak hours.
"All I'm doing is handling food to the customer and we've got some cooks that are really sweating in this place," said Brown.
Last year around 20-thousand peopled filed into
"People are coming to town, they're staying in motel rooms, they're going to restaurants, and they’re going to have a little fun, go places to eat. They're having a good time and they're spending money with us," said Autry.
Whether diving for a fly ball or sliding into home plate for the game winning run, excitement thrives at the tournament. It's known as
"Baseball, it's wholesome, it's great, it's the way we like to do business here," said Autry.
