Hundreds of local leaders and baseball enthusiasts took to the diamond for the final Gaudet All-Star Baseball Camp.
Over the last 25 years the free camp served more than 13,000 kids in Middle Georgia. Each summer the camp teaches kids baseball techniques, and gives them free tickets for the Sports and Music Halls of Fame. Plus, the camp gives kids a free t-shirt.
Founder, Jim Gaudet, says the purpose of the camp is to expose young kids to valuable life lessons. Both the Macon Police Department and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office participate in the camp.
Gaudet says, "It's bitter sweet. I'm sure I'll be shedding a few tears before the day is over. It's really more about life and interacting with their friends or kids they've never met before and what a beautiful atmosphere off a baseball field."
On its final day, thecamp also recognized several volunteers and businesses for all their years of contributions. Gaudet says more than 400 kids between the ages of 6 and 12 showed up for the camp this year.
