There is relief for job seekers in Milledgeville, with close to 700 jobs making their way to the area very soon.
The River Bend Correctional Facility will open up 300 jobs at the end of the year, which is one step towards lowering Milledgeville's double digit unemployment rate.
The prison is also ahead of construction schedule. Executive Director of the Milledgeville Development Authority Angie Gheesling says," Milledgeville has taken a difficult hit in the last 2 years. This announcement of jobs coming online through the next year has created a good bit of excitement and most importantly optimism to our community."
Triumph, an aerospace manufacturing company, will also add around 300 jobs over the next 2 years.
Gheesling says, "Knowing that there's some indication that jobs are coming back the community is definitely going to rebound."
Plus, a new TJ Maxx and Kroger will bring in an other 100 positions. TJ Maxx will start hiring in the next few weeks.
