11-year-old Faustina Edwin recently splashed onto the scene of the Macon Waves, a local swim team here in
"It's good for my strength and it's something to do during the summer when I'm just alone doing nothing," said Edwin.
The Macon Waves Swim Team is part of the
"We've had an opportunity to work with some of the DFACS kids last summer to kind of water proof them as well as introduce them to swimming and to see more of the community. I think over the years we've had thousands of kids go through our program," said Cliff Money, with Macon Waves.
The pool serves as a nice cool off on a hot middle
"Sometimes it's fun to play with people. There are so many pool games to play, so meeting new friends is kind of fun," said Edwin.
Faustina's mother is excited for her daughter to compete and learn how to be part of a team.
"We are looking forward to the meets especially. You know it's going to be a lot of fun because during the summer they get to meet other kids too and just play and interact with them," said Josephine Francis, Faustina’s mother.
Whether working on their swim form or jumping into the pool in perfect cannon ball form...the kids of middle
"It's just really fun to swim and be in the water. You get exercise and its fun," said Edwin.
The Macon Waves team will host two swim meets this summer.
