Georgia Teacher of the Year Honored at Macon City Council

Mayor Robert Reichert honored Jadun McCarthy tonight at Macon City Council. He declared May 17, 2011 Jadun McCarthy Day. The teacher from Northeast High School was honored to be recognized by the city.

"I work hard to teach my students because they deserve it. I work hard to teach them because they deserve the best opportunity to be successful so when I'm recognized and honored it's certainly something that's not expected but certainly something that's welcome."

McCarthy received a standing ovation from people at city hall. He is the second teacher from Bibb County to receive the Georgia Teacher of the Year award.
