A memorial held in Twiggs County Friday afternoon honored Deputy Sheriff Richard Lyn Daniels.
Daniels was killed last year after a 30-foot Oak tree fell on his patrol car during a routine drive.
The Fallen Heroes Memorial Tour met at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, proudly displaying its moving memorial wall. One by one, the wall and riders arrived by police escort.
"It honors his memory, it honors his family and what he represented which was law enforcement for the state of Georgia and our community specifically in Twiggs County," said Twiggs County Sheriff Darren Mitchum.
Stories of Deputy Sheriff Richard Daniels is how his wife Carrie knows their daughter Lena will remember her father and be very proud.
"She will remember one day. She will know, we tell her about him every single day, a different story every day."
Daniels' mother Lori Thompson says once you become a member of law enforcement, you get a whole community of people who love and respect you.
"Not only is it an honor for Richard, but it's an honor for any of the police officers that lose their lives."
Deputy Sheriff Richard Daniels died on June 22, 2010. He had worked with Fire and Rescue before joining the Twiggs County Sheriff's Office. He was just 27 years old.
