MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - An event Friday night at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center will help raise money for a service dog for a teenage girl who has Type 1 diabetes.
14-year-old Rebecca is insulin dependent. She has to prick her fingers at least four times a day. Often, she's unable to sense drastic changes in her sugar levels. A service dog would be able to alert her and allow her to be more independent.
The dog Rebecca needs costs $10,000. Students at the tennis center are playing the sport at the center, located at 3280 North Ingle Place, to benefit their friend.
The event starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 9. If you'd like to donate, visit Rebecca's Fund at Razoo.com.
Tennis Center Getting Lights
Thanks to penny tax funds, the tennis center will soon have all new surfaces and lights! The public is invited to come out Saturday to enjoy the facility starting at 11 a.m.
