MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Just in time for the holidays, the Macon Rescue Mission is getting some help from an annual event that features a long list of sports celebrities.
The Five Star Mazda Kevin Brown Celebrity Classic golf tournament is being held at the Idle Hour Country Club Friday, but Thursday, hundreds came together for a live and silent auction to benefit the rescue mission.
Since the event started 24 years ago, it's raised more than $2.7 million!
Former Major League Baseball star Kevin Brown, who's from right here in middle Georgia, has been involved with the Classic since the mid-90s.
"This really is a great charity," Brown says. "I invite people to go online, look up the rescue mission and get some information about what they're doing. If you've got any time or resources that you want to donate, they're always looking for help."
