MCRAE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - One local school showed its patriotism by recognizing local heroes at their 11th annual Patriot Day celebration.
Families, friends and veterans gathered at Telfair Elementary School to celebrate the lives of fallen victims, and remember a day we will never forget.
9-11 was a day most students did not experience, but they were very enthusiastic about showing their pride for America.
Fifth grader, Kahne Williams says nothing is more important than remembering those who died for children like him.
"We have to remember them, and thank them for what they did," says Williams.
Speaker Rev. George W. Vereen gave a speech to the students and visitors-hoping everyone left feeling encouraged.
"It was a sad day, but look for some good out of it. It brought us closer together as a nation, as a community and as a people," says Vereen.
