GORDON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Four suspected gang members are wanted in Gordon after what police call a "horrible" group beating that left two men severely injured and the whole thing was caught on tape.
It was 11 against two as suspected gang members of 'Group Development' kicked, stomped, and beat brothers Tyrone and William Jackson at the Praire Summit Apartments on June 30th. Gordon Police investigator Andy Hester says the group had no reason to fight them.
"The two brothers actually went out there to diffuse the situation," Hester said. "One of the guys spit on them and they pretty much gave them no choice but to defend themselves. He swung, but it was to no avail. They ultimately took a beating from 11 guys."
Hester says this is the first major act of gang violence in Gordon in years. According to the police report, officers got a call to the complex earlier that day about a possible fight. The report states accused gang member Roderick Briscoe felt "disrespected" after a fight broke out between his brother and Tyrone and William Jackson's nephew the day before.
The group showed up hours later. The Jackson brothers were visiting family at the apartment complex. They stepped outside to handle the situation but that is when the group attacked them.
"Tyrone Jackson stated that he saw Roderick Briscoe hit him in the eye with a set of brass knuckles," Hester said.
Tyrone needed plastic surgery and William suffered from back and neck injuries. Both men are recovering.
Since the fight, police have arrested Briscoe, Rufus Solomon, Quteavias Simmons, Timothy Bell, Darius Fisher, Gregory Smith, and Dequan Shinholster. They are all charged with aggravated batter and participation in criminal street gang activity. Briscoe is also facing charges of aggravated assault.
Police have warrants out for Tonikeron Williams (top), Travis Veal (second from top), Jontavious Renfroe (third from top), and Malcom Daniels (bottom). They are also facing charges of aggravated battery and participation in criminal street gang activity.
"Wwhen you see 11 guys beat down two guys for just merely being disrespected, you know its gang related," Hester said.
He adds until recently, there hasn't been a gang presence in Gordon. But because of this fight, the police department is taking a stand.
"We take gang violence very seriously and we're not going to tolerate any violence of that nature whatsoever."
