WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Family members of city committee leaders will now be able to work in the city of Warner Robins.
Council met Monday night to talk about amending Code Section 18-3, a rule that stated that city employees couldn't have their relatives also work in the city.
Councilman Paul Shealy brought the issue up with council after realizing the rule could possibly affect the quality of employees hired.
"I don't believe that some of these elected officials are going to get up here and spend thousands of dollars to get up here and hire a relative," Shealy said.
Shealy feared the possibility of skipping over someone who was highly qualified for a job just because they were related to a city employee.
Elected officials will not be able to have family members work in the city, however.
Council also mentioned that if a person has a relative working in the city and then that person decides to run for an elected position, the relative will not need to worry about losing their job.
Other things discussed in the council meeting included the possibility of an F-15 from Robins Air Force Base being place in front of the Warner Robins Municipal Complex.
Officials believe the placement of the aircraft will attract interest to more areas throughout the city.
