MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- Macon police are searching for two men who robbed a home on Log Cabin Drive Wednesday night.
According to a police report, around 8:20 Luis Rodriguez told police two men showed up at 5135 Log Cabin Drive. Police say it's used as a management office for Margharetia's Restaurants.
In the report, Rodriguez says the two men posed as Bibb County deputies, pounded on the door and showed a slip of paper that had his name on it. They apparently told him it was a warrant. The men tied up Rodriguez and a woman, asked for drugs and money and ended up stealing more than $2500.
"It's unusual but it's not unheard of. I know there's been some cases up around Atlanta where criminals have used law enforcement uniforms to gain entry into houses," said Bibb County Sheriff David Davis.
Sheriff David Davis says the two men didn't have a badge or the even the right color on, but they got their hands on some patches that either were or looked like Bibb County Sheriff's patches.
"We had stopped giving out patches several years ago for situations like this one, but it was also from a homeland security standpoint as in patches might be falling into the wrong hands."
Sheriff Davis says any time a deputy officer knocks on your door, you don't have to answer. In fact Davis even suggests calling 911 for backup.
"If they are a real law enforcement they'll understand and they'll wait," said Davis.
The first suspect is described as approximately 6'4'' to 6'5'' and weighs between 185 and 195 lbs. He has gold teeth on the top and bottom. The second suspect is described as about 5'5'' to 5'7'' and weighs between 140 and 150 lbs. He has facial acne and brownish-blonde hair.
Police are also looking for a dark color SUV that may be a Suburban with a chrome front.
