MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -- Former Twiggs County superintendent Dr. Valya Lee is one of five finalists for the superintendent position in Tuscaloosa County.
Dr. Lee took on the role as Twiggs County superintendent in July 2010.
During an interview with 41NBC in May 2012, Dr. Lee said "My proudest moment was when we got the test scores back from the 2011 administration of the CRCT. The elementary school made adequate yearly progress the first time in 5 years and the middle school made adequate yearly progress the first time in 6 years."
In addition to Dr. Lee, the finalists for the superintendent position include: deputy superintendent of the Tuscaloosa County School System Walter Davie, former Tuscaloosa city and county school system employee Brenda Rickett, superintendent for Vicksburg Warren School District Elizabeth Swinford, and superintendent for Saraland City School System Lawrence Vickers.
According to the Associated Press, the finalists were identified during a school board meeting Monday. School board members in Tuscaloosa County plan to interview all five finalists next week.
