Kick Butts Day Helps Smokers Quit

Written by Jasmine Williams on . Posted in Local

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A national campaign is helping smokers nationwide kick the habit and 'kick butts'.

Kick Butts Day, sponsored by Tobacco-Free Kids and the United Health Foundation, is an aggressive push to get youth to stand up and speak out against Big Tobacco.

Now a new program and funding is helping more Georgians commit to putting down the cigarettes.

"The state will pay for the first 30 days of nicotine replacement therapy, either a patch or gum for any Georgian, uninsured or insured," said Dr. Jimmie Smith with North Central Health District.

For more information on kicking butts and kicking the habit, contact the Georgia Tobacco Quit Line at 1-877-270-7867.
