MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Students at two Macon schools got a pleasant surprise today.

The Junior League of Macon's "Roving Readers Initiative" collected more than 1,300 books and raised more than $3,000 in two separate book fairs late last year.

Today, they delivered the books to King-Danforth Elementary and Vineville Academy.

Junior League president, Julia Wood, says it's always inspiring to see kids get excited about reading.

"And one of the best ways that we can instill a love for reading is to give them age-appropriate reading material to read at home," says Wood.

The students at King-Danforth actually got to pick out a book and put their name in it, so it can be sent home with them to read during their upcoming spring break.
