MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - A Bibb County grand jury indicted a 73-year-old man accused of shooting and killing a woman at a Macon gas station.
Frank Louis Reeves allegedly shot and killed 63-year-old Linda Hunnicut at Murphy's Express on Gray Highway on December 4, 2012.
Reeves is charged with malice and felony murder as well as aggravated assault. He was denied bond last month, but his lawyer is filing a motion to get him out of jail.
Reeves' legal team believes the state was quick to formally charge him, but the district attorney's office says it handled his case like any other.
"The DA's office can push all it wants to, but we're going to make sure this process is complete," Veronica Brinson, Reeves' attorney, said. "I think that it's a strategy to encourage our judge to not bond at this step.
"We did this case in the usual course of business, the same way we would any other case and it doesn't prevent the judge from reconsidering bond," Bibb County District Attorney David Cooke said.
Brinson requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to conduct its own investigation, but Cooke denied it.
Reeves is asking the judge to reconsider his bond and an arraignment hearing will be scheduled sometime next month.
