MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - A local pastor is being considered for a position on the Georgia State Charter Schools commission.
Pastor Tony Lowden, who is also the executive director of STONE Academy, is in the running along with 14 others around the Peach State, to be part of the commission of 7.
If selected, Lowden will help implement the forming of charter schools around the state. He is the only one in the Middle Georgia area who is in the running for this position, and his name was submitted by Governor Nathan Deal himself.
Lowden tells us the Georgia Board of Education will be selecting their commissioners Thursday or Friday of this week.
