Airline that Would Have Provided Service from Macon to Atlanta Pulls Out

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - An airline that would have provided service from Macon to Atlanta, has pulled out of the market. That's according to the City of Macon's Director of Public Affairs, Chris Floore.

Sun Air announced Wednesday they have decided to focus on other markets. The airline won a bid with the U.S. Department of Transportation to provide the service from Macon to Atlanta back in September.

This may not be the end of the road for the possibility of that service, though.

Airport manager Doug Faour says the bid process will reopen in the next few weeks, and the airport still wants to offer the air service from Macon to Atlanta.

The USDOT has the last word on which airline would be chosen.
