Friday night the Bibb County Board of Education came to an agreement over Dr. Romain Dallemand's contract just after 6 p.m. After close to a month of contract negotiations back and forth between both parties, Dr. Romain Dallemand and the Bibb County BOE have agreed to terms.
"Very happy that it's over and anxious to get on with the business get him here February 1st, and start assimilating him into the community, meeting people and getting onto the business of educating our children," said Bibb BOE President, Gary Bechtel.
In a 6 to 2 vote the board approved the contract Friday night. Dallemand will receive a base salary of $198,000 a year and his contract begins February 1st of 2011 and ends June 30th 2013. Bechtel says he wishes the vote was unanimous, but is comfortable with the end result of the contract.
"I have some of the same concerns, but I was intimately involved in the development of this contract, and as a result I thought it was a fair contract. When we go to make a strategic plan and look for accountability measures and goals, I think it'd be a lot easier to get the job done with a unanimous vote," said Bechtel.
Dallemand will be leaving
“I am very pleased with the Board’s decision to offer me the position as Superintendent of the Bibb County School District,” says Dr. Dallemand. “We’ve got a lot of work to do, and I’m looking forward to meeting the students, staff, and community members in Macon.”
Board members are excited the process is complete and look forward to the future of the school system.
“This has been a thorough process involving extensive discussion, as well as stakeholder engagement and feedback,” says Board of Education President Gary Bechtel. “It is exciting to bring it to a close and begin preparing our district and community for Dr. Dallemand and his leadership.”
