IRWINTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - The water boil advisory for the city of Irwinton has been lifted.

The advisory was lifted around lunch time on Tuesday. City Clerk, Courtney Robinson told 41 NBC they were waiting on test results to come in before they lifted the advisory.

There are two wells supplying water to the city. Both wells broke down over the weekend. City officials brought in help and asked residents to boil the water before drinking or sing it to cook. Both wells are up and running now.

"You don't have to continue to boil to drink, boil to cook," Mayor Willie Joyner said. "The water is fine coming out of the taps, so we are back on target."

Superintendent of Wilkinson County Schools, Dr. Aaron Geter closed schools Monday and Tuesday. Students will be back in school tomorrow.
