PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – On Thursday, Perry City Council will meet to discuss candidates for the new police chief position and potentially narrow the search.

According to Mayor Jimmy Faircloth, the council is currently considering six candidates for the position. At the special called meeting, council will discuss the candidates in depth and "potentially narrow the field down to two".

In June, former Perry Police Chief George Potter left the department due to health issues.

The meeting will be held Thursday at 5 p.m. at Perry City Hall.
