Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Man in Possession of $9,100 Worth of Marijuana

Zakeius BattleMACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Macon Police arrested a 33 year-old man after a traffic stop lead to the discovery of more than 9 lbs. of marijuana, according to a news release.

The man, Zakeius Battle, and his passenger, 29 year-old Kimberly Smith, were stopped traveling East on I-16 in a black Chevrolet Malibu by MPD Narcotics Units. Upon further inspection, the officers smelled the scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle, eventually discovering a blue bag containing the illegal substance.

The street value of the confiscated marijuana has been determined to be approximately $9,100.

Battle was arrested and charged with Following too Close and Possession of Marijuana with Intent. He currently remains in jail.

Smith was also arrested and charged with Being Present Where Drugs are Kept or Sold, and has since been released.
