MACON, Georgia(41NBC/WMGT) ‐ Campus Police for Bibb County Schools continue their random searches. On Thursday, police conducted a random search for weapon and narcotics at Miller Magnet Middle School and Hutchings Career Center.

Approximately 100 students were searched for contraband. No drugs or weapons were found during the search. Campus Police will continue to randomly search schools throughout the year, says Campus Police Chief Russell Bentley. Principals may also request a search of their school at any time.

Last month, Bentley reinstated random searches as part of Operation Enhance School Safety to eradicate weapons and drugs from District schools. Students were briefed prior to the searches and given the opportunity to ask questions.

Campus Police used handheld metal detectors and visual inspections of book bags, purses, and other personal items.
