Search for New Perry Police Chief Begins

Written by Jasmine Williams on . Posted in Local

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Perry Police Department is beginning its search for a new police chief.

Thursday night, officers officially celebrated the retirement of former Perry Police Chief George Potter. Potter left the department in June due to health issues. Now, the city is working to fill his shoes.

"The applications have been taken, the state police association has gone through them and narrowed them down," said Perry City Council member Williams Jackson.

Jackson said right now the city is working with roughly six applicants. The council will start looking through applications in the next couple of weeks and hopefully start interviews after Thanksgiving. Jackson expects a new police chief will be in place by January.
