COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - The Bleckley County High School lockdown was lifted shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to school officials, the lockdown was prompted after someone spotted a male near the campus they believed was carrying a gun.
But Sheriff Harold Lancaster says things were blown out of proportion. Law enforcement canvassed the area shortly after the call came in. Lancaster said the suspected individual was located and didn't have any weapons on him.
Lancaster says there was no real threat, no one was injured and the students were sent home safely.
